Mediating Effects of Depression and Social Support between the Relationship Job Stress and Quality of Life among Firefighters

Abstract
This study was to identify the mediating effects of depression and social support on the relationship between job stress and quality of life(QoL) among firefighters. The data were collected from 1,300 firefighters in Jeollabuk do and analyzed by using structural equation model. The research findings were as follows: First, 43% of subjects showed high level job stress and 15.6% of subjects showed more than moderate depression. Second, job stress had on significant relationship to the QoL of firefighters. Third, depression and social support worked as partial mediators between the job stress and QoL among firefighters. The implications and limitations of these findings were discussed and directions for future studies were also proposed.
